Imagine my surprise the other day when I opened my email from Elizabeth Croft from the Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce that said I had been nominated for a Black Tie Award, which honours business and volunteerism excellence in the Cowichan Valley.
I was honoured last year to be nominated in the Art in Business category and this year, I have been nominated for my other business the Chemainus Village Computer Centre . I have owned this business with my partner George Gates for almost 2 years. George and I are very thrilled and grateful for the nomination in the Business Achievement category 1 to 10 employees. So a big thank-you to the person who nominated us! We are feeling rather blessed right now. Our fingers are crossed, hoping that we make the top 3!
The really nice thing about the Black Tie Awards---you don’t have to be a member of the Chamber to nominate someone, the business that you would like to nominate doesn't need to be a Chamber member and it’s not just for Duncan businesses ( obviously as our store is based in Chemainus) So if someone from Shawnigan Lake or Cowichan Bay or Lake Cowchan has stood out, please take a few moments to fill out the nomination form. Deadline is January 31st. http://www.duncancc.bc.ca/2016-black-tie-nomination
Also, the Chemainus Chamber of Commerce is looking for nominations for your favorite Chemainus, Saltair, Thetis Island or Crofton businesses and people for their Golden Brush Business Excellence Awards. Nominate as many businesses or individuals as you want, including more than one in a category.
Deadline for nominations is February 5th. Each nomination will give you one entry in our nominators’ draw for a surprise gift. If you complete the entire form, you will get 8 entries. The winning entry will be drawn April 2nd. www.chemainus.bc.ca
